Why should parents schedule a vision screening for their child?
Most kids are only "tested" at school. That's not adequate. Unfortunately 1/4 of kids have problems that will never be found at that test.
YOU NEED THE 3 "PILLARS" OF VISION TESTED TO GET AN ANSWER ABOUT YOUR CHILD.
1. TRACKING: your child's ability to move the eyes smoothly, accurately, and effortlessly.
2. TEAMING: do both eyes work together flawlessly?
3. FOCUSING: is the print clear NEAR and FAR, and all the time?
What can parents expect from the vision screening?
**It's not an eye exam. It's done by our therapy staff, not the doctors.
**No glasses prescription will be created from it
**It will tell you with great accuracy whether you need further tests
How to schedule a free vision screening: We invite you to call our office at 316-722-3740 and tell the receptionist that you want to schedule a free screening. She'll be happy to set up your appointment!
The early years of life from birth until age five are crucial for a child’s visual development and eye health. The American Optometric Association recognizes how important it is to get your baby's vision off to a good start. InfantSEE™ is a free public health program for children during their first year of life; participating AOA optometrists provide a comprehensive infant eye assessment at no cost to the parents. Visit www.infantsee.org for more information.
We were the first practice in Kansas to offer free screenings to preschool kids and infants. We gladly do that too and we can tell you if your child has a problem that might lead to lazy eye, crossed eyes, and other difficulties.
If you live in Wichita, Child and Family Optometry participates in InfantSEE.™ We invite you to call (316) 721-8877 to schedule an appointment.

From a sixth-grade boy who likes school now:
Since I started vision therapy my grades have gone from D's, up to B's and C's. I read better now and I even kind of like school. My mom says that I have a better attitude. Thanks for helping me see better.
